damn you jennavere and your perfect drabbles!

the hard thing about writing p/o is that theres not an extreme enough personality difference. for d/h, they are essentially polar opposites, there are so many ways to bend them. But p & o are so 2D, theres no substance to them.

at least thats what i'm telling myself to make up for my p/o writers block.

ok, i'm going to start with a minor character so i dont feel too pressured just yet. So on to PERCY WEASLEY!

Again, what i've done here is read through the books and tried to glean some sort of insight into what these characters are really like, whats going on behind doors, what they would likely do, so as to present a base on which fanfic writers can draw from. See, many fanfic authors don't understand the characters,a dn dont really have a sense of what they would and would not do. Which is where i come in...

So why is percy portrayed as a pompous ass? whats going on in his head to make him say those things, what is he feeling that leads him to ostracize his family after he joins the ministry? what has caused him to turn out the way he has, do the things he does, and say the things he says?

Our first real glimpse of percy's inner feelings starts in book 2. I think a valid point to make here is that percy gets teased all the time. This must have some effect on his personality. If we think of people that were teased very often, they become introverted and often try to find some way to deal with their pain. I feel very strongly that percy is hiding behind his haughtyness, using it as a tool to deal with the things he is feeling. Remember we dont see any other side of percy than that of distain. As i read through pg 28 of the second book, the teasing from his family members became very apparent to me, and it was a very harsh teasing too, not a lovable poke.

* Percy puts on a face of being annoying, but its really because thats his way of dealing with life.

Which leads me to my next point. In the second book, pg 164 shows that percy relishes power: he really uses it to the extent. What could be causing this? A drive to show up the siblings that have always made fun of him? A determination to show everyone that he is better than them, despite what they say?

* Percy dearly wants to prove himself to people

ok.. i'm going to stop for now, because i'm awful tired. and i know that this is most likely garbled and too long and difficult to read, but never fear, this will be constantly undergoing rewrites and edits :)
p.s., this isn't even half of what i have down for percy, and i still have harry, draco, sirius, and remus to go XD hope you think its worth it, cuz theres much more to come <3!

The second and last thing i've done so far. This one bothers me a bit, but this too has gotten decent reviews, so any comments would be awesome. As usual, the last half is better than the first half, so stick it out to the end if you read it. It's really quite cute :)

Alright, this was the first thing i ever wrote, and so far it's gotten good reviews, so enjoy. Its more fluffy than anything else, but it's not the average. Con crit is of course always welcome, but please don't be vicious. It's just plain rude. We can all disguise flames as maturely written opinions ;)

also, before i forget, i will be doing research outside the books to complete this little project, like from other people who have done similar things, interviews with rowling, possibly see if i can ween anything from the birth dates and fact that many names are taken from other things, such as constellations. Also the abundance of fans of the actual books, they're pretty knowledgable themselves, even if they don't read slash :-D

Whoa, ok. First post, yaay! Just trying to get the hang of this. Hmmm...

Alright, so with this journal, i was planning to post all my fics, all two of them and also to host this weird thing i've been doing... 

It all started one summer holiday where all i had access to was the harry potter books. After having not read them for two or three years, and reading fanfics instead, i realized that i had lost all touch with the real characters. Also sick of reading very ooc characters, i realized that the number one way to create a very not-ooc character was to go to the beginning, the source of everything; the books themselves! So, that summer, i started with the first. Within the first few chapters, I found my first nugget, my first clue to the real characters, to their inner workings and what they're really like. 

I haven't typed any of my findings up yet, but i'll be typing one character at a time, using distict quotes from the book to back up my theories. I swear i'll make it as professional and fact based as possible, but i am also a rabid slash fan, so there will be a bit of nonsense, but minimal.

Anyway, should be good, and i hope it does well.

EDIT also, a different summer, all i had access to was a mainly public computer, but every chance i got i watched these gorgeous fan vids by the lovely big mama g. I recommend them to you all.
